Benefits

  • As these services have proliferated, so have demands to manage authentication and security multiplied. Reduced/Single-sign On (SSO) systems have emerged as a key requirement in the modern distributed computing environment. These systems exist to address a number of key institutional pain points:

    • Convenience for users looking to access multiple systems
    • Integration inn workflows/user experience when spanning multiple systems
    • Costs of user-support lo ad related to password, username, and credentials
    • Security of services located both on and off-site

To support these needs, CampusEAI has engineered a comprehensive security and SSO platform into the myCampus portal, built on best-of b reed open-source and community developed technologies, and targeted at easing integration with systems common in Higher-Education.

Integrations

  • The myCampus SSO architecture consists of a number of core components, which allow for a variety of strategies for SSO integration. The major components are:

    • CAS® and CAS® Clear pass: Integrated Jasig® CAS 3.3 SSO Server
    • QuickLaunch: a CampusEAI developed Black-box SSO Integration framework
    • myCampus: used to expose, and manage SSO integrations

Architecture

  • This SSO architecture forms a core component of the overall myCampus Service architecture, (as illustrated), enabling not only direct SSSO integration to services, but also providing a base capability which is built on by other services like dashboards, summaries and notifications to provide "actionable intelligence" paired with an easy escalation into a full-service, native web client.
